Kids First Uganda (KFU)
Lake Leelanau's Mary Taylor will be at the fair selling crafts made exclusively by a group of women in Uganda, members of KIDS FIRST UGANDA (KFU). This is a way for these women to support their children. Many Ugandan women take in orphaned children in addition to their own family and may have as many as 6-8 children living with them who are not their biological children. It's a situation of epic proportions -- there are 2.5 million orphans in Uganda and 50% of the population is 14 years or younger.
The sale of KFU crafts goes directly to support the programs of KFU. To learn more please visit their web site. Read Mary's updates from her recent trip!!!
